*RAINBOW FRIDAY*
November 27, 2015

Rainbow Friday is a shiny, happy event that celebrates small business and adds color to your holiday shopping! Each of the businesses below crafts and creates and curates. We hope you, our neighbors, value our goods. And, when choosing how you spend your time, money and thought on gift-giving, we hope something we make meets your needs. We constructed Rainbow Friday so that you, wonderful people, can:

  1. Take advantage of some great sales and have a chance to win awesome things!
  2. Give gifts that support your community. I mean that sentence literally. When you buy from small, local shops you vote for economic health and creative wellbeing in your world.
  3. Stay home and enjoy your people in the days after Thanksgiving. Open your computer and shop when everyone is asleep after a rich day of play, conversation, snuggles and laughter.

Each rad business below is offering up a giveaway and a great deal.

This whole thing goes down:
Friday, November 27 – Monday, November 30. All day for four days.

*COMMENTS CLOSED*

To be entered for the giveaways, simply leave a comment on this post. 18 giveaways, 18 winners. Randomly selected. Unless you leave an epic comment and then we will just pick you. Just kidding. Winners announced on Wed, Dec 2. I will announce here under each item.

Happy Thanksgiving. If you want to respond to something in the comments, tell us what you feel thankful for today. Lots of love to you all!

I’m so grateful for you! When I started reading your blog back in 2008 (I think you had two blogs at the time, right?), I just knew I wanted a little bit of what you had and shared so selflessly with the world…a purpose. Over the years, I followed along on your journeys through motherhood, marriage, gardening, home renovations and your work-life balancing act. You were like a beacon that was keeping me centered and tethered to this tumultuous ride I was on in my own life. You were a weekly reminder (oh, how i looked forward to hump day nuggets!) for me to stay on the course – in life; in motherhood; in creating my own joy.

When I finally met you, I was so nervous and jumbled up with emotions. You were (and are) so real and such a sensitive, caring soul. Your corkscrew curls + piercing blue eyes pulled me into your world and I felt genuinely seen by you and ignited to live a more authentic life. All of my hunches about you were confirmed in an instant – you were the real deal, a keeper.

And because of you, I met a few other women who have rocked my world and opened me up to more truth-telling + finding my very own purpose through art, writing and owning the motherhood I initially felt ill-suited for. And by being such a light in my life, without even know it, you helped me navigate my way to the 10 months of sobriety I am owning right now! I want more + guess what? I’m going to get it and I’ll have strength + clarity to boot!

Your writing and the community of makers you prop up and support here on your blog is so awesome. I’ve worn my Stull Knits slippers for years and I just ordered another pair today! My Earlywood spatulas are used daily AND my digthischick Alaska t-shirt dress is a weekly regular in my wardrobe routine. I felt privileged to be part of your Rainbow Friday sale last year + I look forward to ramping up my own line of goods and joining in the fun next year. I love how our lives have collided + feel so inspired by your kindness. I’m paying it forward with others I’ve met through your blog (Jess Townes! she now writes for Mamalode!) and I can see the beauty in the connection you’ve created over the years and love playing a part of the domino effect of kindness one person can start.

Thank you for being so open and honest about your life, Nici. You have touched me in ways that you will never fully know + I’m pleased as punch for all of your successes.

XO

These giveaways are INCREDIBLE! They make me want to pour HAGGE COFFEE in the French press and stir it with an EARLYWOOD SPOON while popping some of MAMA’s oils into the diffuser and contemplating some silks for my bedroom #becausewhynot? Tossing on a B. HANDMADE DESIGN SCARF and a few LAVA LAKE bangles for #varsitycoffeedrinking while admiring my LITTLE GREEN THINGS wall art because, heck yes WE ARE ALL HERE TO SHINE.

On my way out THE DHARMA DOOR with a hemp string bag I almost forgot to take off my STULL KNITS slippers that are so comfortable, and continue dreaming that some day STARRY KNIGHT will make mocs in my size. Speaking of dreaming, I’m enjoying winter but look forward to needing an URBAN BABY BONNET (in an adult size) to protect me from the summer sun though I suppose I could give it to a little friend or Luckydog, though he can wear his own MONTANA GRRL CRITTER GEAR. Those FARMGIRL PAINTS cuffs look fun…I’d need a dozen to say everything I need to…but in the meantime there’s something about MAMACASE PRINTS and WINE THERMALS that seems like a natural pairing, and thank goodness for PIPER & PAISLEY hats for when we’ve been too clever with too much wine and hair is not a priority, but we still want to appear to have some style and a MELODY JOY cowl #becausecozycanbecute.

#morecoffeeplease while writing notes on NOTEWORTHY PAPER & PRESS snowflake cards and knowing exactly who I want to send the ALPINE BABY leggings to because #leggingsdon’tlie. the DIG THIS CHICK wool coozies have to be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen; everyone I know is getting these as gifts for the rest of time and a little bit beyond.

I am grateful for mom makers and bloggers like you, people who keep it real instead of sugar coating this crazy thing called life. Not every day is perfect, and when you’ve got a creative temperament, home life is certainly not always ‘put together’; something so easy to forget when scrolling through social media and mom blogs. But not you. Even on the bad days, you remind me that the beauty isn’t in the perfect, rather, it’s in the every day, good/bad, big/small moments and everything inbetween. It’s about scrapping plans to create with your kids, make a mud pie, sew a cape, go for a hike instead of doing dishes. So, thank you for sparking both my creative and mama spirit candles when they’re sputtering out. Bring on the hand and homemade love! Xo
