In our home, we love to eat well. We are not menu planners or extravagant food shoppers. Our daughters eat the same things we eat (click here to read about our approach to kids and food bravery).

My husband and I share cooking, which is nearly always a creative afternoon scramble using on-hand ingredients. We grow as much as we can and purchase fresh, in-season produce and are the grateful recipients of game, harvested and butchered by my uncle. When we are comfortable with the source, we buy meat but our diet is mostly vegetarian.

All of this is to say that the recipes below are simple, fresh, affordable and easily adapted using what exists in your pantry!
