billows and folds
twirls and puckers
comfort swallows small hands
like kneading dough
the hem
never far
the lap
a vacant lot of tall grass
begs for wild play
or blissed-out recline
an endless basket made with a grab
holding treasures
eggs
doll shoes
berries
berries
clothes pin toes
grip the waistband
until they don’t
because they swim away
in skirts of their own

oh, love this.
Beautiful and so true
Wow…all your posts lately have been making me hug my little boy a lot more and a lot tighter.
Sweet.

Love this. Just got done playing peek-a-boo through the hem of my skirt and sat down to find this. Beautiful!
Oh, it’s so funny how the things you write tug at my heart and are so in line with what’s going on with my own two girls right now. My skirt has been a favorite place to play and hide in lately, too, as well as an excellent and favorite place for collecting from our garden!
Sweet, beautiful, lovely, true. xo
My favorite post is always your newest post. Great writing and images, Nici. Goodonya!
Perfection. I hope to see onions in there soon! You can do it!

Love this. But, I’m longing for the audio version. I really want to hear you read this aloud. Love your line breaks, simple text all vivid images & luscious moments.
JUST saw this…love it. How did I miss a post from you? 🙁
